Ernest
The tool that makes finding glaze easy
Here are two videos that are better than a long speech, introducing Ernest
I created this tool to make the search for enamel easier than long and tedious weighing . This research is based on volume dosing (syringe and dropper) and the tool containing the liquid glaze samples is an elastomer tray I called Ernest, It flips to the test tile which avoids the use of brush for transfer to the tile and allows to have a constant thickness for each test of the tile. There are several Ernest models adapted to the research we want to conduct.
3×3
4×4 small model
It is a 25-cell elastomer tray which, by its material, allows the return of its contents on the sample tile
We use Ernest to make progressions from a given database for example silica in vertical and kaolin in horizontal or to make color tests.
The interest is, in addition, a considerably increased speed to perform these 25 tests which take about an hour for a progression in two directions and half for a color test. The other interest is reliability because the 25 samples are tested at the same thickness of glaze
This tool is used with a syringe for volume dosing of each cell or a dropper to make a color chart
There is a calculator which accompanies Ernest and which allows to calculate the additions to be made in A, C and D and to calculate the recipes of the mixtures
